A friend recently linked me to this article on thedaily.com with a interesting info-graphic showing the growth of online dating. It also talks about the prime factors in whats "important" to find a long term match. This really re-affirms my belief that the internet dating market is struggling and it’s time for “the next generation” of dating websites to take over.

The following quotes really back FinallyFoundYa.com’s decision to not write algorithms or have paid "professionals" finding matches for our members because they don't work.
“To date, there is no compelling evidence that any online dating matching algorithm actually works,” wrote study author Eli Finkel, an associate professor of social psychology at Northwestern University.
“Research shows that the biggest factors for predicting long-term success are how couples interact and manage conflict, which can’t be assessed by an algorithm.”
FinallyFoundYa.com's goal is to remove barriers between people and reduce the amount of time it takes person A to figure out the “long-term relationship quality” (we call it maturity) of person B. The key point is that it takes time and there is nothing anyone can do to remove all the time / effort required to get to know someone.
We don’t eliminate any of the time it takes - we let you use the time already spent by your friends and family. There is a saying I really like “How you do anything is how you do everything”. Your friends have met a lot of the people in our dating community - maybe they have already dated? worked with them? or maybe they are somehow connected to the person you are interested in dating? Who knows - but if they do know them, the feedback they have can give you a peek into your potential dates life and get an idea of who they are. If they are mature and pleasant - your friends will know because they’ve seen it come out in whatever time they have spent with them.
The Internet is a communication tool, so use it to communicate with your friends to help make your life better. The evidence is starting to show that computer programs and people working in cubicles can’t magically find your ideal match so maybe it’s time we look to the past and how it has always been done - face to face and with our friends family and community involved.
FinallyFoundYa.com is a mix of whats new and saves time but honors what has worked for thousands of years.

Since v2.0 of FinallyFoundYa.com every member was given a big pink gun. I discovered this while I was doing some work in our database and it caught my eye. Since launching our “friend network” in version 2.0 of FinallyFoundYa.com, the amount of user complaints and number of people blocking other people has gone down... for not just people with strong friend networks but for the people that don’t use that feature too!

I recently heard about a guide for women to spot a good mate called the “six sixes”. I think this article was designed just to get people upset and talking because it didn’t really deliver anything useful. However that article inspired me to put together a list of things you should look for to figure out if a person you are just getting to know is a good match or not.
To recap the original six sixes:

I'm happy to announce that v2.0.3.0 was released this morning. Articles are now a part of the homepage and soon to the dashboard for logged in members. I realized that our newsletter/twitter method of communicating ot our members was limited so we will now publish all news here first
Also with this release comes the full implementation of our AutoBlock feature. This adds to our existing "Block" feature that hides alerts sent from one member to another. See Release note list for more details...
